Author: Thanks to the end of the recent recession, spending in the UK is expected to increase dramatically, much to the delight of manufacturers and retailers. Online shopping is also expected to increase by leaps and bounds throughout 2012 as more and more people take advantage of the incredible convenience of the Internet.
As far as shopping trends and technology are concerned this year, new gadgets are always emerging and savvy shoppers remain on 
the look-out for latest innovative products.
Sales of E-readers, in which books and magazines are quickly downloaded to the device and read at one’s leisure, are expected to rise dramatically. Netbooks too, which are slightly smaller versions of laptop computers that are ideal for reading email or browsing the Internet, are likely to become even more popular and advanced than they are currently.
And smartphones, or mobile phones with Internet access and a host of capabilities, are now appealing to a wider audience as people look for simple ways of getting information and connecting to others.
When it comes to clothing and fashion shopping trends for the year 2012, ultra light denim is expected to make a splash both during the spring and fall seasons. Animal, floral, and abstract prints are all back in style again as are dazzling, sparkling colours like bronze, gold, and silver. For outerwear like coats and blazers, expect to see muted shades like beige and greys, which are ideal for toning down the brighter tops and dresses being sold.
When shopping for footwear in 2012 you can also expect to see neutral colours like browns and blacks, and clogs, flats, wedges, and Oxford style shoes will be in season throughout the year and most especially in the autumn months.
Expect to see new and exciting products in terms of household appliances that are designed to make life easier and more convenient. With everything from ovens that cook food in a fraction of the usual expected times to vacuum cleaners that can clean and scrub all types of floors, draperies, and upholstered furniture as satisfactorily as the pricey commercially made machines.
During the month of July, when the children are getting ready for their weeks off of school, watch for plenty of sales on clothing, and in August when summer is in full swing, sales on items like CDs and outdoor sporting equipment should start to drop in price.
Today many people begin their Christmas shopping far earlier than what was once traditional, this can most be attributed to the availability of the Internet and the countless E-tailers who are all clamouring for our business and providing pre-season bargains. Sales on Christmas related items begin as soon as late September in many parts of the world and great bargains as well as hard to find items can always be found online any month of the year.
Shopping trends are affected in the month of November by major events like Guy Fawkes Night, St. Andrew’s Day and Remembrance Sunday before Christmas and Boxing Day arrive. And, of course, expect to see holiday gifts geared toward every member of the family in stores and on virtual shelves also in early November and December.
